        Long distance coaches pass through Keetmans on a regular basis on their way between Windhoek and South Africa. Unfortunately the north-bound trip from South Africa arrives at a nasty hour of the morning.

        Combies (shared taxis) travel regularly to Keetmans from various places in Namibia, including Windhoek, [wiki=838938cad4295a92c6c0c4bc9052d6b5]Lüderitz[/wiki] and [wiki=cfe136bac611c76bda9b7770bc3263da]Mariental[/wiki]. Combies also arrive in Keetmans from South Africa.
        There are also private shuttles that provide transport to and from Keetmanshoop.

        Keetmanshoop is 10 hours from Windhoek, not really the best option, the bus is much faster.
        Another option is Aetos Services, a minibus that caters for your needs to the Quivertree Forest, Giant's Playground, Fish River Canyons, Luderitz and even to Windhoek. For further information see http://www.aetos-services.com

      Local taxis and bakkies can be found outside of Spar and Pick n Pay. Taxi rides within town are generally N$10, but can be N$18 on weekends or late at night.

      Giant's Playground and Quivertree Forest on Gariganus farm (for contact detail consult the "stay" section) are worth a visit. Both are perfect for scenic photos and make the area around Keetmanshoop more than just a overnight-stay.
      *Located in the old Rhenish Mission Church, the Keetmanshoop Museum is worth a visit.

      Trek Best place to organize a trek through the [wiki=456e2dc7032be31d377c79d8e0c7cd5d]Fish River Canyon Park[/wiki]. #24 Luchtenstein st., around the corner to the north from the petrol station where the bus stops. Look for the sign on the station window. Staff can organize transport to the Fish River Lodge, where a 5 day hike in the canyon is available.

      The town has supermarkets, outfitters, a hardware store, and auto parts. An FNB bank is located on one of the main streets though town, and there is also an ATM outside of Pick n Pay. If you are interested in printing photos, ask for Studio 27.

      Uschie's A humble, friendly, portly eatery near the main road into town, Uschie's is run by an old German couple. The restaurant offers a shockingly large amount of different hamburgers, all of them great. Just as massive (and famous in South Africa) are the Greek salads.
      *Central Lodge As the name implies, a centrally located restaurant and lodge. Burgers are your best bet here. See below for contact and location details
      *Bak Oond Meaning 'oven baked' in Afrikaans, Bak Oond specializes in amazing (and cheap!) pitas and pizza. Located in town, a block or two away from the train station.

      There is a nice new pub in town, just behind the swimming pool, called STEAMERS where every one is welcome. Nice atmosphere, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. For a unique experience, try the Prison Shebeen, located on the north side of the prison grounds.

      • By Hitchhiking

        To travel north, wait alongside the B1 across from the hospital, just north of town.
        To travel south or west, wait at the roundabout just south of town, or ask or wait at the Engen just beyond.
        To travel east, go just beyond the hospital north of town (off of which is the road to the Quivertree Forest) and wait on the gravel road heading towards Aroab.
