Flims is a historic town in the Surselva valley in the district of [wiki=7b2c472da1b8f1ea98fe91570d4743ca]Imboden[/wiki] in the Swiss canton of [wiki=e511acc680f24b365b2faa78eb54c6b9]Graubunden[/wiki]. The village of Flims (German: Flims Dorf) is part of the municipality of Flims, together with Flims Waldhaus, Fidaz, and Scheia. Flims has less than 3000 inhabitants and covers an area of roughly 50 km^2. It is mostly known for the ski resort in winter and for hiking in summer. The 220km² ski resort is known as the 'Alpenarena', the 'Weiße Arena', Flims [wiki=1e923bef6eb15cec1e5728d5bad47d6f]Laax[/wiki] [wiki=618625a40d31dad1a908e88d08137b00]Falera[/wiki] or just Laax. The third of these names is the most descriptive, the resort links these three villages together.

Traditionally the economy of the town was based on agriculture, farmers would bring their fresh milk into town every week for villagers to buy, cutting the long grass in the meadows by hand. Flims nowadays relies on skiing and tourism, with a UNESCO World Heritage Site to its name, the iconic Flimserstein, the aquamarine Lag la Cauma (Lake Cauma) and being the meeting point of Romansch and Germanic Swiss cultures and languages.
