“The Royal York is a nice hotel. The lobby is large, open, inviting and has been recently renovated. The lobby and lobby bar is lively and fun. The guest services were really good. I didn't have to wait long to check in and the agent was friendly.
There are a 10 elevators to get you to your floor so you don't have long waits or crowded cars when you get in. This is something most hotels can't boast about.
My room was very nice. The room was recently renovated with very modern fixtures and furnishings. The craftsmanship of the work was excellent. The wallpaper, for example, was so well done that it was difficult to see the seams.
The room was very clean. I always look in the corners to see the attention to detail of a room and the corners were clean of any debris or signs of wear.
There are a few reasons that keep me from giving the Royal York a 10 star rating:
1) There was no turn-down service. Maybe they usually have it? I didn't get it.
2) There were no complimentary bottles of water on my arrival or left in my room at a later time
3) The in-room fridge can't be used for personal reasons and you will be charged if you take something out even if you put it back a minute later
These three things cater to the Royal York's concern with profitability and not making sure that the customer is taken care of. Instead, if the Royal York took care of the customer then profitability would follow.”

“Went here in the fall for a visit to Toronto. Had a great time the hotel lobby is huge and lots of friendly people to guide you and assist you in a tour of the place. The room was gorgeous with a beautiful view of the train station. Definitely a place you should stay if you ever get the chance. Valet parking will be required since there is not a close enough place to park comfortably especially if you go during the winter or when it gets chilly outside.”
