    By Air

    Taking a plane to New York is easy. There are three airports to chose from in the region. John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) and LaGuardia Airport, both in Queens, and MacArthur Airport in Islip are all easily the first step to getting to Montauk.

    There is a shuttle available that connects to the Sayville LIRR station, where you can board the train to Montauk. There is also the S57 bus, run by Suffolk County Transit, which connects to Sayville. The shuttle costs $5, whereas the S57 costs $2.

    By Car

    Either travelling in your own car or by rental car it is easy to get out to "The End". The only road that goes out to seaside town is Sunrise Highway (or Route 27), which runs from New York City all the way to Montauk. Along the way Sunrise Highway turns into Montauk Highway yet it is still known as Route 27.

    By Bus
    The Hampton Jitney bus service runs from Manhattan to Montauk.
    There are also local buses run by Suffolk from town to town.

    By Rail

    The Long Island Railroad (LIRR) is an alternative to driving. It too runs from Penn Station in Manhattan to Montauk.

    By Sea

    There are also places at which one can dock their boat and also ferries that run from other East End locations.

    Beach Regulations:
    -Public parking at the beach is reserved for residence. Visitors can purchase a parking permit at Town Hall Annex at the Montauk Playhouse.
    -Dogs are not allowed on the beaches between 9am and 6pm from May 15 through the end of September. When permitted, dogs are allowed to run off leash.
    -Beach fires are permitted on most beaches however East Hampton Town has a list of regulations which must be followed.

    *Great spot to surf. There is a parking lot, outside showers/restrooms, few food stops.

    *Great place to launch ocean kayaks. The beach is pebbly, so be prepared. No restroom or public parking.

    *Popular beach with a life guard on duty during the summer months. There are public restrooms on site. Restaurants and shops are within a walking distance.

    Numerous restaurants for every taste are in Montauk. There is an abundance of fresh, locally caught seafood markets, restaurants, and bars. No matter what it is that you are looking for, fine dining or a casual eatery, you can easily find it in Montauk.
    * This outdoor deck overlooking Fort Pond and Gardiner's Bay offers a wide variety of seafood. They have a moderately priced menu and also offer a fresh seafood market for people to shop before or after they eat.
    * This restaurant features all locally caught seafood from Montauk itself. Newsday rated Fishbar one of the 10 Best Seafood Restaurants on Long Island in 2013. They also offer a rotating selection of seven craft draft beers and a signature sangria.
    * Harvest is one of Montauk's most-known restaurants. Without a reservation, it is nearly impossible to be seated inside. There is an entire outside section that is engulfed in a garden that is first-come-first-serve. This is a family style italian restaurant.
    *Located in the heart of town. The Bake Shoppe has a line out the door every morning, where people order a range from one coffee to dozens of pastries.
    * This location offers a wide variety of food, considering there are four different restaurants and lounges within the club. Gulf Coast Kitchen is a living room styled lounge that features local seafood and and upscale options. Hurricane Alley is a informal indoor/outdoor dining area that was designed to resemble and bait and tackle shop in the Florida Keys. Here you can enjoy home cooking and see people in their swimsuits and towels. The Barracuda Bar is decorated with different maps and vintage posters and is known for its wide drink selection and specialty pizzas. The Turtle Lounge is a replica of the Montauk Light House and is a tavern-style restaurant that features historic images of the Montauk Yacht Club.
    *The restaurant inside this hotel has a very wide menu. It has a section for seafood, from the land, pasta, and wraps and sandwiches. It is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
    * Located in town, this take-out market is where many buy organic products off the shelf and also order freshly made items. They offer breakfast and lunch, consisting off all organic products. Some include smoothies, breakfast burritos, all-natural oatmeal, fresh-fish sandwiches, and much more.
    * Located inside the Montauk Manor, this restaurant is formal and offers a standard italian menu. The upscale facility overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Block Island Sound is home to many wedding receptions, anniversary parties, and other celebrations.

Along with cheap beers, you can get delicious cocktails in a very laid-back atmosphere (even includes a deck.) On top of all of those great things, it even offers a beautiful view of Lake Montauk! Come enjoy the view while you sip on $1 beers or cocktails of your choice.
    *Come enjoy great burgers, local seafood and wings at the Point Bar and Grill! The atmosphere of this bar is family friendly with a sports bar type of feeling. The bar is lined with 16 flat screen T.V.'s and drink specials for every sports game. During the summer season, The Point Bar & Grill is home to several bachelor and bachelorette parties with DJ's spinning the most popular jams. There is even an event called "Sloppy Sundays" during the summer season. On the website, it says "participate if you dare!"
    *The Sloppy Tuna is a restaurant, bar and nightclub located right on the beach in Montauk. Come get a delicious bite to eat while you enjoy the amazingly beautiful view. The Sloppy Tuna is very casual and beach friendly during the day while DJs spin during the night.     *Amsterdam Beach State Park is a 122 acre park in East Hampton, NY, just east of Montauk. Although the park is undeveloped, it includes 1,288 feet of ocean shoreline, 54 acres of wetlands and several ponds for your viewing pleasure. The area has been nicknamed the "Montauk Moorlands."

    *Shadmoor State Park is a 99-acre state park located in Suffolk County, New York. It is one quarter-mile east of Montauk. The park has trails for hiking, biking and even cross-country skiing. It even offers several hilltop views that are perfect for bird-watchers.

    * Hither Hills State Park is located near the eastern tip of Long Island. The park offers a playground, picnic tables, nature trails, hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing and a campground.

    * Montauk Downs State Park is located in Suffolk County near the eastern tip of Long Island's South Fork. It is about 1 mile east of the village of Montauk. This state park includes an 18-hole golf course, driving range, swimming pool, tennis courts and restaurants.

    * Camp Hero State Park is located on Montauk Point, New York. This park offers a beach, fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing and biking. This park was originally the Montauk Air Force Station. Camp Hero State Park beach is considered a very popular fishing spot. The common types of fish that are caught most often include the striped bass and bluefish.

    * Montauk Point State Park is located at the eastern tip of Long Island in the town of East Hampton, Suffolk County, New York. The park is the easternmost South Fork of Long Island as well as the state of New York. This beautiful park offers picnic tables, a playground, food, fishing, hiking, hunting (seasonal small and big game) as well as cross-country skiing. It is known for some of the best surf-fishing in the world. Visitors are also able to see seals bathe in the sun on the rocks!
