Nakhon Sawan Province, also known as "Pak Nam Pho", is where the rivers of Ping, Wang, Yom, and Nan converge and form the Chao Phraya River, the most important waterway of Thailand.

Nakhon Sawan is in the lower northern part of the country between [wiki=7f842cd01e0e1f848373c7c1e67ed113]Northern Thailand[/wiki] and the [wiki=f554745b4506d457c22749c510068b45]Central Plains[/wiki]. It is regarded as "the doorway to the North" and it is the hub of transportation in the Lower North.

Not many western foreigners visit Nakhon Sawan, therefore it can be hard to get by if you don't speak at least a few words of Thai.

Out near the bus station are several cheap eating street stalls with their own tables and chairs. They will sell beer at a reasonable price, and the food is cheap enough B70/100 (includes a large bottle of beer).

There is also a 711 opposite the bus station. The Big C contains a variety of small restaurants.

There are many hotels, a favourite is Pa Ville, also there is Chinos, a new hotel. Also there is the Asia Highway Hotel, there is also at least 3 places to rent rooms for a longer term.

    * The Pimarn is the only hotel immediately close to the bus terminal. Look for the Thai sign. The hotel costs 700 baht for a double room nowadays at Aug 2014(used to be B800 when the rear part was open), and this includes breakfast. Credit cards not accepted. The rooms are good. The back part (somewhat like a university multi dormitory and some 300 metres to the right rear) is no longer in operation, and has been closed for quite some time judging by the overgrowth near the entrance.

*Pleasant spot, reasonably priced, buffet breakfast included, wifi. Great for a few days.
