    Boca Chica is located in the Dominican Republic on the coast Caribbean Sea. It is 30km from the capital city of Santo Domingo. It has a population of around 70,000 and is one of the largest towns in the Dominican Republic. Boca Chica was originally a fishing village but has evolved into a tourist destination due to its stunning beach. The beach at Boca Chica is sometimes referred to as the largest swimming pool in the Dominican Republic as it is well known for the coral reef that makes the water so calm.

    Cheep flights from most Canadian and American cities are available to Punta Cana and Las Americas airports. Taxis are available from both to Boca Chica. For almost all packaged vacation deals transportation is included.

    It is also possible to take the ferry from Puerto Rico to Santo Domingo and from there taxi to Boca Chica.

    Taxis are available to the Colonial City and Santo Domingo for 40 dollars one way or 70 dollars return. It is a viable option for those wanting the security of a local tour guide or direct transportation. The price is fixed and it is unlikely any haggling will alter it. There are other destinations available with the same taxi company such as Punta Cana and La Romana however these have a steep price tag.

    It is very enjoyable to walk around the town of Boca Chica. The park at the centre of the town is great for people watching. The beach, of course, is the main drawing card for the town as it is renowned internationally and well frequented by the residence of nearby Santo Domingo.

    Boca Chica is famous for its stunning beach. It is popular for scuba diving and snorkelling. The chance to enjoy water sports and activities is abundant. The town is not far from the Capital City of Santo Domingo which is a popular destination for tourists and locals.

    If you are looking for cigars in Boca Chica there is a small shop on Duarte Avenue (the main street near the beach) which has a selection of domestic and imported cigars. There is also a cigar roller that comes every second day who does custom orders, ask for William for information about products.

    There are two small supermarkets in Boca Chica, one near the park, and one near the Be Live Hamaca side of Boca Chica. There is also a post office, several pharmacies, and a plethora of small souvenir shops. Haggling is acceptable in all stores except the pharmacies and grocery stores.

    There are many lovely restaurants along the beach front in Boca Chica. Locals also often sell street food during popular days at the beach. There is a burger king in Boca Chica which is an option for those more partial to American food.

    There are a number of small hotels in Boca Chica for affordable rates. There are also two all inclusive resorts such as the Be Live Hamaca which is a former Hilton resort. The two all inclusive resorts each have their own "private" beach, whereas in other hotels you will be using the public beach.

    Busses are available from the park in the center of the town. They leave every hour on the hour theoretically, in practice however they arrive more frequently and the service provided is excellent if you do not mind that the buses can be crowded. The cost for the bus to [wiki=29cb8691e1843d307a8d831219167549]Santo Domingo[/wiki] is 50 Dominican Pesos for the regular bus (about a dollar) which is not air conditioned and can take up to an hour. There is an express bus for 70 Dominican Pesos (about a dollar fifty) that is air conditioned and goes directly to independence park in [wiki=29cb8691e1843d307a8d831219167549]Santo Domingo[/wiki] in about half an hour. Do not pay immediately when getting on the bus in Boca Chica as this is a local bus that will take you to a terminal where you will board either the express or regular bus to Santo Domingo, it is on this bus you will pay. The return trip departs from the terminal near Enriquillo park in Santo Domingo which is easiest to get to from the colonial city by taxi for about 150 or 200 pesos (five dollars).
