St Lucia is a mountainous island, and thus the roads are curvy and steep. Be aware that vehicles must be driven on the left side of the road. The north side of Marigot Bay can only be accessed by boat, though an inexpensive ferry service is available. Parking is available on the south side of the bay.

    *[wiki=f5f7cac9d570e63942fbdbacff1a051d]Vieux Fort[/wiki]

    Saint Lucia has two airports,
    * George FL Charles Airport (SLU), which is near Castries.
    * Hewanorra International (UVF), which is near Vieux Fort.

    - George FL Charles Airport is closer to many of the all-inclusive resorts, has a modest terminal and runway able to easily support inter-island commercial flights. Larger commercial aircraft can not land here.

    - Hewanorra is larger, but can be an 1 hour by Taxi from most of the major resorts in the north. It is where most of the larger airline companies from the US and Europe land. The journey north is a good way to see the island except if you arrive at night. When driving to [wiki=7e68f5436d36cadb2fba15d0f79fa6d3]Marigot Bay[/wiki], take the east coast road unless you have a reason to go on the west coast road. The west coast road seems shorter, but the time is much quicker on the east coast road.

Taxis are available to and from most locations.

    * Water taxis will take you to most places you want to visit also.

    * If you are really brave you can use the taxi/bus stations along the road.

    * Best bet is to rent a JEEP or vehicle with plenty of ground clearance. You will understand once you traverse the roads.

    * Renting is at rates similar to those found in the United States or Canada. Driving is on the left-hand side and drivers require a permit ($12 US for one day, $21 US for 3 months).

Fantastic views of the bay from the mountainside.

    * The boats in the marina. There are usually a few yachts of famous people around.

    * The wildlife in the bay. The little black birds with the red breasts are lesser Antillean bullfinches - these birds will feed from your hand if you're patient and still [http://www.marigotbeachclub.com/2011/08/st-lucia-wildlife-birds-marigot-bay/]

Get your groceries before you get to [wiki=7e68f5436d36cadb2fba15d0f79fa6d3]Marigot Bay[/wiki]. Try the Super J's in [wiki=16df4d00790b7dc723aad4dbbab55104]Castries[/wiki] next to the market. Alternatively there is a small supermarket on the south side of Marigot Bay, by the ferry jetty.

There are some small gift shops in the bay, as well as some local craftworkers' stalls on the beach on the north of the bay.

*Has free water taxi to beach and bar if you at least buy a drink. Regular evening entertainment. Excellent food, al fresco dining overlooking the shallow waters of Marigot Bay - in the later hours of the evening, look out for rays gliding through the water, and bats swooping down to catch fish. Legendary rum punch, friendly owner who sits in the bar chatting to customers most evenings.
*Excellent food. A little pricey. Try the Rainforest Punch, it is a great drink. Free water taxi.
