Salice Terme is a small town in the [wiki=da08bb030da4999f0715584691e33006]Oltrepò Pavese[/wiki] region of the Province of Pavia (PV) in [wiki=b0ea6e29d4727582c926ca0e6b9f775b]Lombardy[/wiki]. This town was once a very popular destination for locals primarily from the Lombardy region of Italy. The word Terme means "spa" in Italian, and sure enough there are many spas in the town. Although most locals prefer to head for the coast for their vacations, there still remains some decent hotels and food establishments to enjoy. Being that this is in the [wiki=da08bb030da4999f0715584691e33006]Oltrepò Pavese[/wiki] region, every restaurant has excellent local wines (local specialty is Bonarda, red wine with a slight carbonation - try it!) to offer as well as the famous Salami and other varieties of ham.

    By car

Probably the best way to visit the city since you may want to get around to the local vineyards or an Agriturismo, a good reference point for your GPS is Strada Provinciale 1, Salice Terme, PV.

    By public transit

In order to reach this town by public transit, it will be necessary to catch a bus from Voghera. To get to Voghera, consider a train from [wiki=437d461430ecc08e2d51abbcf5ce9b3c]Milan[/wiki], follow the instructions on that page for instructions to get to Milan. Trains leave for Voghera (via [wiki=180ab0761158b959facf0feae6115c4e]Pavia[/wiki]) from Milano Centrale roughly every 30 minutes. Tickets can be bought in the Trenitalia ticket office, or alternatively it is possible (and often quicker) to buy tickets and check train times using the Trenitalia self-service ticket machines (most of which have an English language option, along with other major languages). Tickets cost between 5.80 and 8.50 euros depending on whether you take a slower regional train, or the faster Intercity trains. The regional trains will run along the Genoa - Pavia - Milan route, just make sure your train is stopping in Voghera (the ticket machines will let you know, based on the departure time).

Once in Voghera, the bus stop is just outside of the train station. You should be able to find a bus schedule and buy a ticket in the station. Buses run from Voghera to Salice about once every 30 minutes.

You can access several restaurants and bars by walking in the main part of the city (it is very small), but you will probably want a car to see the rest of the beautiful region.

A nice little pizza place with a great ambiance and helpful staff. The pizza is delicious, they have a decent selection of beers (2 of them local), and it is not overly expensive.
*Great pizza, Mussels (Cozze), and Gelato. Pasta and other appetizers also available. Highly recommended.
*A nice little place with decent food and good prices. The server is extremely nice and helpful. They have a fantastic selection of local wines, primarily from a great local winery called Cabanon. They offer a decent traditional Italian 4 course meal for 25 euro per person, but you can also just get a decent burger, bread, water and a glass of wine here for under 15 euro.
