    Trek the Chembra Peak:

At 2100 metres above mean sea level, Chembra peak, with its lakes and meadows makes for a fascinating trek and offers breathtaking views.
The climb is not very difficult, nor dangerous. The first 2 phases is easy to moderate and the final phase is slightly steep.

You have to take permission from the forest department and pay Rs.500 entry fee (for Indians) for upto a group of 10 people. The department is obliged to send a guide along with you.

There are numerous trek blogs out there which give a lot of information about this trek.

There is only one bar in Kalpetta and one wine shop.

The wine shop is government owned and though cheaper than Bangalore, can be quite a daunting task to purchase from. There will be huge queues and beer will not be refrigerated and options are limited.

Suggestion is to carry your own and ask your hotel to keep the beer in the refrigerator.
