There is no direct international flight to Bengkulu. Bengkulu can be accessed via flights from [wiki=f3a693cf1392030d179eaa94d226f0ea]Jakarta[/wiki] and [wiki=1ecc2a305906a7fd6c493312224a1186]Batam[/wiki]. From Jakarta there are 6 daily flights (Garauda, Lion Air, Citilink) and a single daily flight from Batam with Lion Air.
Driving from Jakarta will take about 20 hours with magnificent views along the way, but since the road conditions are not very good and considering you will have to drive through jungle with hilly and winding roads, it will be too risky for inexperienced drivers.
You can catch regular buses from [wiki=002d58e7320e036561568d54ac4b17ae]Medan[/wiki], [wiki=a7bf82ce43e8d7e78a5824999295e157]Padang[/wiki] or Jakarta.
If you want to go there by bus from Jakarta, there are two common routes :
*West Route (Lintas Barat) from Jakarta to [wiki=aaf27a0a47b4d28336afc84181b84d6c]Bandar Lampung[/wiki] and then through a dense tropical jungle of Liwa, [wiki=919ad39e6dd47d936cdb4312b49ff7eb]Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park[/wiki], and [wiki=d6e7aacdc3313b932c84a7a0ca50fb52]Krui[/wiki]. It takes around 22 hours with magnificent ocean view along the way, but the road condition is not very good and considered unsafe.
*East Route (Lintas Timur) from Jakarta to Bandar Lampung and then enters Bengkulu via [wiki=6a5ea5fd845711055d5065e49b3df429]South Sumatra[/wiki]. It's a longer trip (about 25 hours) but safer.
There are also several van travel that ply the route between [wiki=a7bf82ce43e8d7e78a5824999295e157]Padang[/wiki] and [wiki=4a30518a9f2691799493fa401f9a11ad]Bukit Tinggi[/wiki] toward Bengkulu City and the journey take around 19 or 20 hrs(220,000 Rp). Many drivers tend to use long journey via Muara Bungo and Sarolangun rather than using the coast road (Muko-Muko and Painan) 'absolutely with better view and scenery'. So better ask the travel counter before handling with any purchase or else it will be a tiresome journey afterall.
