As each Pelion's mountain village has its bay, Damouchari is part of Mouresi, which is situated higher on the mountain. Being the only natural port on [wiki=51bcb11cb763c99eaba4ce4da4999ae3]Northeast Pelion[/wiki], Damouchari has always had unique importance for the area.

It was established by Venezian sailors, when the ships of Venice had conquered the Mediterranean. They built a castle in Damouchari as protection against the pirates and as a station of supplies and rest during their long trips. Even the name of Damouchari derives from them. They say that the Venezians, coming here, were in a hurry to reach the castle and avoid the pirates and they were praying to the Virgin to save them ("dammi chari").

Damouchari's gulf is the only natural port on Eastern Pelion and for that reason it has been characterised by a continuous commercial movement. Through this port, all mountain villages were being provided by various products and goods. There are, still, buildings that used to be big stores. Today, although it is not characterised by the same activity, it is considered as the most picturesque cove in the region.

    * Up the hill, between Damouchari's two coves, there is a castle which was built by the Venezians as protection by the pirates. Unfortunately, today, because of the state and local authorities' ignorance only some ruins of it have been saved.

    * The small church of St. Nicolas, constructed in 1747, is another sign of Damouchari's intense past. Its interior is being decorated by a marvelous hand-made wooden temple and unique wallpaintings, made by Pagonis (a known painter) and other talented, but unfortunately unknown, artists and monks.

    * "Kagiolia" is a wonderful stone-built path constructed in 19th century in order to connect commercially Damouchari's natural port with Tsagarada and the rest villages of Eastern Pelion. Today "Kagiolia", situated at the end of the beach, is a picturesque path, ideal for walks, that leads to isolated bays and to Tsagarada.

*The beach of Damouchari is called by the inhabitants "Palia Damouchari", that means "old Damouchari". It is characteristic for its pebbles, the crystal waters, the various sea-caves and the rocks that surround it.
