[wiki=c229e4266dbc40c19d45fec618708541]Agios Kyrikos[/wiki] - capital town on the south side of the island. A workaday place with limited charm but a good choice of restaurants and bars.
    * Therma - rather tired spa resort about 3km north of Agios Kirikos. One place still offers hot radium baths on a daily basis and there are a few places to stay and to eat.
    * [wiki=4072c5941da174d3f511d26d1aa11efa]Evdilos[/wiki] - main port town on the north side of the island with a couple of hotels and a reasonable selection of bars and tavernas around the attractive harbor area.
    * [wiki=e512e0ae5aab3c4af39f1d1d40cfd71e]Armenistis[/wiki] - pleasant beaches nearby and where the majority of Ikarian accommodation is to be found
    * Raches - an amalgam of four small hill villages with some great waymarked walking routes nearby, especially the Halaris Canyon. The place only really comes to life late at night when the locals come out to shop, eat, drink and gossip but has a peaceful, relaxed evening atmosphere.
    * Karkinagri - remote coastal village on the south west of the island. Reached by boat from Agios Kyrikos or via very rough roads over the mountains from Raches. Landslides a couple of years ago created a new beach which is sea is gradually washing away. There are a couple of places letting rooms and a few tavernas.

    • By Plane

Ikaria can be reached year round by air and has an airport, located on the south eastern part of the island, 12 km from Agios Kirikos village.
There are flights directly from Athens by Olympic Air [http://www.olympicair.com/Home.aspx?a_id=549] (approx. 35 minutes), and from Crete during the summer via SkyExpress.

    • By boat

Ikaria has 2 harbors, Evdilos and Agios Kirikos. There are daily ferry rides from the island of Samos (approx. 2.5 hours). A weekly ferry via Nel Lines also runs in the summer connecting Ikaria to Limnos, Lesvos and Kavala.

You can bring a car using the boats, or you can rent one there. Bus services are infrequent. For example, services to Armenistis from Evdilos only run on alternate days. To explore the island, car or motorbike rental is necessary. There are several car rental companies in Armenistis, but in peak season you may have to reserve a hire car a few days in advance.

    • Beaches

      Ikaria has very attractive beaches.
      * Agios Giorgis Beach- a remote sandy beach protected by a cove located at the extreme northern tip of the Island. Access is via an unpaved road from Faros that ends in a footpath where beachgoers must then hike about 20 minutes to the beach.

*Evdilos Beach (Kiparissi)- located just before the city of Evdilos this is a small, quiet sand beach where there are no facilities and you can just go and enjoy the clear water and natural beauty. This beach is often visited by locals.

*Faros Beach- Located in Faros this sandy-pebble beach is a popular weekend getaway that had ideal swimming waters. Along the beach you can find various tervernas, bars/cafes and a small pier. Windsurfing and Kayak rentals and sometimes available on the beach.

Seychelles Beach - Beautiful pebble beach with turquoise water on the south side of the island off the road to the village of Manganitis. There is a rough car park just after the long tunnel on the road towards the village. From there it is a 15 - 20 minute scramble down a rough track. There are no facilities, no bars, no umbrellas and, if you're lucky, no people. However, it can get busier with locals at weekends. The road to Manganitis has recently been upgraded from a rough track to a proper two lane tarmaced highway and a few new tavernas have opened up in the village which is only about 5 minutes drive from the beach.

Nas Beach - Sand/pebble beach in a deep bay about 4 km west of Armenistis. The village of Nas has a few studios and tavernas and is popular with those looking for a particularly quiet place to stay. The beach can have a heavy swell at times and is popular with nudists, often to the annoyance of the locals.

Approximately 10 minutes East along the coast from Therma is a cove where hot springs can be found in the sea. This can be accessed by a marked path. The start of the path is tricky to find - it can be found by heading up steps which appear to lead to a house. However, "trailblazing" in the direction of the springs will almost certainly lead to the path, which is clearly marked.
