    Aberdour has a population of 1,680, which has been falling in recent times.

    The vilage is in two halves, Easter and Wester Aberdour either side of the Dour burn with the population almost equally distributed.

    Aberdour is a twenty minute drive North of [wiki=03cf54d8ce19777b12732b8c50b3b66f]Edinburgh[/wiki] over the Forth Bridge. Aberdour is around 10 minutes east of the Rosyth Junction of the A90, which connects Edinburgh with Perth, Dundee and Aberdeen.
    The village is also served by the award winning Aberdour Train station with regular trains to Edinburgh, around the fife circle. Please note trains listed as going to Glenrothes with Thornton continue around the fife circle although it is quicker to travel past Glenrothes by going in the opposite direction to Inverkeithing and then continuing towards and Dunfermline.
    Aberdour has bus services, The Stagecoach in Fife route 7 links Aberdour with Kirkaldy and Leven in the East and Dunfermline in the west. It has a frequency of approximately 20 minutes. One bus an hour links Aberdour with the Ferrytoll park and ride in Inverkeithing where direct buses can be taken to Edinburugh

    Aberdour can be walked around in a couple of hours - take the Fife Coastal Path from the train station to the idyllic Silver Sands beach, then proceed to head West towards the Black Sands beach and picturesque harbour. Cut up the steep Hawkcraig Road and you'll arrive in the historic and rustic heart of the village - with friendly pubs, restaurants and unusual boutique shops.

    Aberdour Castle is a fascinating, 12th-century castle which was granted by Robert the Bruce to his friend and nephew, Thomas Randolph, Earl of Moray. It includes the beautiful and well-maintained castle gardens, as well as a spectacular beehive-shaped dovecot built at the end of the sixteenth century.

    *The Silver Sands Beach is one of Scotland's seven Blue Flag awarded beaches, and is incredibly popular in summer time. For those after a bit of peace and quiet, the Black Sands Beach may be more to your tastes.

    *Aberdour Railway Station is a beautifully kept and cared for example of a traditional station, and regularly wins the "Best Station and Gardens in Great Britain" award.
