The church of St. Henry was built around 1460 at the crossroads of the Pyhtää branch of the Kymijoki river and the Great Coastal Road or the “King’s Road”, leading from Turku to Vyborg. The original medieval facade of the church has remained virtually intact and it is not different from most of the other Finnish medieval churches made of grey granite. The belfry was built in the 1820`s.

    * The unique Archipelago of Pyhtää offers excellent landing and camping sites for those travelling by boat. You can get to know the Kymijoki river and the nearby sea by boat; a scheduled ferry leaves from central Pyhtää to Kaunissaari island. The route takes you through the manually operated Struka dam and locks; it's interesting to see how they work.

    * The astonishing Kaunissaari island can be reached by a scheduled boat service from the village of Pyhtää and from the Sapokka Water Garden in Kotka.

    * The Valkmusa National Park [http://www.outdoors.fi/destinations/nationalparks/valkmusa/Pages/Default.aspx]is located approximately 12 kilometres from Route 7 (E18), along highway 3562 north of Siltakylä. The marshlands of the national park are exceptionally versatile for Southern Finland. The variety is evident in the fact that over 30 different types of bog have been classified in the area. The marshland also provides a home and nesting ground to many bird and butterfly species. A 2.5-kilometer-long wooden causeway winds its way through the national park. There is also an observation tower providing another viewpoint for watching the wildlife in the area
