The coastal area of the municipality of Adeje. This coastal strip is North and immediately adjacent to the slightly older tourist area of Las Americas and Los Cristianos. A promenade runs all the way along the beach from Los Cristianos, through Las Americas to Costa Adeje.
It is almost 100% dedicated to tourism, with many apartment complexes, hotels, bars, cafes and restaurants. The main tourist areas, which tend to have 'Bajo' in the neighborhood names, in Costa Adeje are bounded by the sea (with several sandy beaches) to the West and the TF-1 motorway which runs from about 1 to 3 km to the East of the sea. Beyond the TF-1, the 'Alto' areas, rising up (quite steeply in parts) to a range of hills there are also houses and many apartment complexes.
The climate makes Costa Adeje ideal for a Winter holiday.

Main access is via the TF-1 motorway. It is about 25 minutes by taxi or bus from South Airport. Good transport to the rest of the island is provided by the TITSA bus service. Main bus routes from airport to Costa Adeje station (Estacion) are number 110 and 111. Both run between Santa Cruz and Costa Adeje via the Airport: make sure they are going in the right direction. It has a good marina (Puerto Colón).

Locally, you can walk! Motorised wheelchairs and scooters are widely available for rent. Taxis are plentiful and cheap. Car hire is quite inexpensive. Several bus routes join the Costa Adeje with nearby resorts and the rest of the island see http://www.titsa.com/index.php?idioma=1 . If you are planning to use buses, you can avail of significant discounts by pre-purchasing bus credit (Bono Bus Card at €15 each) at a newsagent.

Be careful as some taxi drivers might scam you. When I tried to take a taxi for a short ride from my hotel to the central bus station in order to take the airport bound bus, the driver told me that the bus does not stop directly at the airport but a few minutes walk away and that I would have to wait another hour until the bus service starts running, all of which were lies in order to try to get convince me to take the taxi all the way to the airport. Finally, when I refused his offer and got off at the bus station instead, he added an illegal surcharge to the fare, as it was indicated on the dashboard taxi fare information sticker that no surcharges are to be added except for journeys to the airport.

Most visitors visit Costa Adeje for the beach and sun. However, there are other attractions locally (e.g. Siam Park, Aqua Park) and there is easy access to the other attractions Tenerife has to offer either by public transport or by purchasing a ticket at one of the excursion outlets which are plentiful in the area. A visit to La Gomera by ferry from the nearby Los Cristianos is also worth considering - the crossing is just about 40 minutes.

There are numerous sandy beaches - La Troya, Pinta, Torviscas, Fañabé, del Duque. Lots of water based activities are available on the beaches. For the less adventurous, you can hire 2 sunbeds plus parasol for €15 per day. There's a 25% discount for a seven day (not necessarily consecutive) hire.

Water: it is recommended that you drink only bottled water which is cheap and widely available. Almost all bars used prepacked ice in drinks. Alcohol is quite inexpensive - beer is from about €1 to €2.50 per pint. Beware: spirit measures tend to be large! Best value tends to be local drinks: e.g. arehucas, the local rum. Most bars close 11pm or midnight. A few (e.g. Tikki Bar, at the Mare Verde complex opposite Playa Olid) stay open till the early hours of the morning.
