Tenerife North airport is next door to the city, a short hop by bus from La Laguna Bus Station.

The town is fairly easy to walk around. There is now a tram running from downtown Santa Cruz direct to La Laguna (Line #1). The closest stop to the old town is the terminus of the route (La Trinidad). It takes about 30-40 minutes and costs about €2.35 return. A 14 or 15 bus will get you there from Santa Cruz and many buses stop at the bus station. This is maybe ten minutes walk down to the town itself or get a 14 or 15 bus and get off at the first stop.

Some excellent cake shops at great prices.

There are plenty of restaurants and tascas that can accommodate any budget. Among favourites :

Ca Zona (Plaza de la Concepción, 22): They serve good but no thrill tapas in generous portions. Excellent service and famous for the funny quotes that hang on the walls. A bit less than 30 euros for a dinner for two including drinks.

El Patio Canario (Plaza de la Concepción, 22): A long-time favourite in town. If you want to experience traditional Canarian cuisine then this is the place. Avoid the salad and head straight to the specialties. Very beautiful yet simple venue with excellent service as usual in La Laguna. Approximately 30-40 euros for 2 persons including soft drinks.

Crepería La Boheme (Plaza Doctor Olivera, 15) : To satisfy your sweet tooth, this is a solid option. They serve crêpes mainly at anytime including breakfast. Count less than 18 euros for two warm drinks included.

Forewarning : This is valid for Tenerife as a whole : Although there are plenty of options, book well in advance as the island has an average occupancy rate of 97% throughout the year except in April and May. Also keep in mind that heating system is an exception so beware of traditional Canarian houses : They are usually cold (16 degrees) and humid during a mild winter. For the rest, you may want to check vacancies on popular websites such as Booking.com or airbnb.com or homeaway.com.

Since there are so many students in the area, almost no accommodation available for tourists. The central Hotel Nivaria offers apartment rooms with kitchens and internet access (bring an ethernet cable).

Conveniently located in the centre. Rooms are vast though a bit humid. Breakfast is very good and the service is both friendly and efficient. Room 230 is a good bet. Watch out : it is in the pedestrian area and parking around takes luck and patience. Try to park your car a bit further up (e.g. Calle Eduardo Power).

The new tram system takes you to Santa Cruz bus station in about 40 minutes for €2.35 return. There are also frequent buses taking you from the new bus station close to Avenida Trinidad: number 015 directly to Santa Cruz via highway in just 15 minutes or 014 which takes more time as it goes through the city.
