      El Tambo is a relatively unknown town on major bus routes and therefore convenient to spectacular Ingapirca. It has a clean central plaza, fast laundry service in the center (on main road so ask around) and one budget hotel.

      Ingapirca is $6 to enter and opens at 9am, or whenever the guides show up. The guides are included in entry but you may be delayed if your group is small and have to wait for more people. The stores near entry have wild pricing, even for tourist traps, but there are kiosks about 300 meters downhill towards town with normal prices. The site itself is small and takes about 1 hour to walk, but one can wander the nearby inca trail remains for hours. The village there did not have any accommodation according to ticket office in February 2014. Canar and El Tambo have some but El Tambo is cheaper.

      Chasky Wasi has rooms for $12, add $3 for breakfast. Rooms are spacious with hot water but no heating. The hotel is two buildings away from the main road, next to the only ATM at Banco Austral
