    Cayambe is a beautiful town nestled in between many hills and mountains, you will notice particularly the volcano Cayambe which is the third biggest in [wiki=4d5d85af33ec2aaedb674d2d6a7d53b6]Ecuador[/wiki] and looks down upon the town with its beautiful white covering. Cayambe is renowned for its flower growing, cheese making and delicious buttery biscuits ('biscochos'), you will definitely notice dozens of biscocherias which sell them. Cayambe is definitely worth a visit especially for the fiesta de San Pedro which kicks off in June 29th.

    To get to Cayambe you can take buses from the 'Flor del Valle' co-operative in the bus terminal 'La Ofelia' in Quito, it is around $1.40 per person from here and its is a 1 hour 20 minute bus ride, with buses departing every 5-10 minutes. If you are coming from Otavalo there are also buses you can take to Cayambe. All buses can drop you of on the PanAmerica, by the bull ring or by the central park.

    Taxis are very cheap and should cost you around a dollar for any destinations within town.

    Within Cayambe you can go see the beautiful park in the centre, there is also a big park for recreation in the outskirts coming into Cayambe. In the central park however, at its souther end is a beautiful church, to the east there is the municipal building and to the north, the museum of the city which has exhibits from the Puntiazil site, an old ceremonial site of the Cayambi people who inhabited the area.
    Quitsato
    By bus or by taxi you can take a ride to the Quitsato equator monument (also Cangahua) which is a giant sundial which has a ten metre cylinder to cast a shadow which can then be used to gauge the time and the month, entry for tourists is $1 dollar, 0.50 for students or children.
    Cochasqui
    One of the most worthwhile visits is Cochasqui ruins, entry is $3 dollars, to get there you can take a taxi for $20 dollars with return and a one hour waiting time (the tour takes an hour), you can also take a bus that services the Tabacundo road, get off at the turning to Cochasqui. The walk is uphill and takes 3 hours. The ruins themselves are surrounded by an incredible scenery which on a good day allows you to see Pichincha, and Cotopaxi volcano, and far out into the distance. The site is a pre-Inca archeological site with fifteen pyramids.
    Oyacachi
    One can also take a taxi, bus or 'camioneta' to Oyacachi a little village which lies on an old route towards the Oriente of Ecuador. The main attractions are the thermal springs (8am-4pm) and cost $2, and the fact that Oyacachi is a starting point for a hike to the oriente, guides are available in Oyacachi.

    There are loads of 'comedores', pizzerias, and some Chinese restaurants around. A lot of places are located on the roads Bolivar, Sucre and Rocafuerte and on the Pan America.

    There is the hotel Cayambe at Bolivar 107 and Montalvo, which is centrally located, Hotel Mitad del Mundo in Av Natalia Jarrin and Argentina which has very hot showers, tv, a restaurant next door and has an indoor heated pool, steam room and sauna which is open on weekends, and La Gran Colombia in Av Natalia Jarrin and Calderon which has a popular restaurant.
