      At the "mercado artesanal" (Juan Benigno Vela) beautiful crafts can be bought. They are slightly cheaper compared to Banos and Quito but be aware that this is a dangerous part of the city.

      For leather-goods you can go to Quisapincha which is about a 20minute bus ride above Ambato. Generally good quality and really good prices.

      Salasaca about 20 minutes outside as a market with indigenous crafts- really low prices.
