        Taizhou (Chinese: 台州站) is served by China's high speed train network. The station itself is located in Huangyan district of Taizhou. There is a direct service to Ningbo, Hangzhou and Shanghai to the North and Wenzhou to the South. Approximate journey times are - Ningbo 1 hour - Hangzhou 3 hours - Shanghai 4 hours. With fares to Shanghai costing 140rmb (August 2014)

        Taizhou's airport used to be called Huangyan Airport(HYN) but goes by Taizhou now as well. It is located in the Luqiao district close to the core part of Taizhou City. (Jiaojiang, Luqiao, Huangyan). Wenling is 30 minutes away.

        Other nearby airports include: Wenzhou (WNZ) (1 hour drive), Ningbo (2 hour drive) and Hangzhou International (HGH) (3 hour drive)

      • By bus

        -From Shanghai to Taizhou take 4.5 hours by bus or car by using bay bridge.

        -From Ningbo to Taizhou take 2 hours by bus or car, and take 1 hour by train(by 2010)

        -From Hangzhou to Taizhou take 3 hours by bus or car.

        -From Wenzhou airport to Taizhou take 1 hours by bus or car.

      -The 901 and 902 bus runs along a ring shape route which crosses the three major towns of Taizhou City -Huangyan, Luqiao and Jiaojiang District. Stops are announced in Chinese and English in the urban areas of each district. To get from one district to another costs ￥4 or ￥3.5, and takes 30-40 minutes.

      -Most of the buses in the city are equipped with air condition and IC Card Reader, you can take the bus in Taizhou, Ningbo, Shaoxin or other cities in Yangtze River Delta by using the same IC card. Don't forget to use the IC card again when you get out from 901 or 902 bus.

      -Taxies are ¥6 for the first 1.5km. 96520 is taxi service phone number.

      Enjoy some streetside barbeque in Huangyan District's Night Market, where various trinkets and articles of clothing can also be found. Just say to any taxi driver "ye shi" (sounds like "yeh sure") and you'll get there. The eggplant is highly recommended.

      You can also ascend Jiufeng Mountain, the impossible-to-miss backdrop of Huangyan district, which offers a good view of the region, numerous Confucian and Taoist temples, and a Buddhist temple near the summit that features a vegetarian restaurant. Stone and cement steps run up most of the mountain paths, though other paths require a little bit of hands-on climbing. You are likely to spot numerous residents descending with jugs filled with water from the mountain's spring, which is potable and almost sweet-tasting after a climb on a hot Summer day.

      Also in Huangyan, be sure to visit the Celtic House Pub, a rather good Irish-American style pub with a menu that includes hamburgers, pulled pork, pizzas, salads, chili, and seasonal specials, and a fairly wide range of imported beers and liquors. Enjoy a free game of pool and get friendly with the colorful local clientele and international visitors alike. Be sure to say hi to Stephen or CJ. The Celtic House Pub is located along a wide alley just east of the Xi Jie Xiao Qu apartment complex.

      As with many Chinese cities there are plentiful dining options across the city. The quality of the food served is questionable as is the hygiene, but that being said it is no different to the rest of China.

      The city is a major fishing port. As such many dishes will have the option of fresh sea food.

      Expect little to no English to be spoken which for those with little understanding of the language can be daughtning but it is a remarkably simple process to get food. Be prepared to point at other dishes being consumed by other diners, have the Chinese written or for those feeling adventurous simply point at the Chinese characters and see what comes !

      For a small city there are plenty options in Jiaojiang especially for having a few beers. Most can be found in the central district. If you are new to the city just ask any taxi driver for 'A Go Go KTV' and they will take you to the central district where many bars are to be found. These include

      Expect to pay 25rmb for 1 pint of beer
      - Lucky's
      Expect to pay 35rmb for 1 pint of beer

      A little more out of the centre are two new bar/ restaurants. Ibiza and F Lounge. Both serve good quality Western food and drink but expect to pay Western prices. These both have a outdoor dining / drinking area

      There are numerous local Chinese style bars for an authentic Chinese Bar experience, whilst they are harder to find they may be well worth the effort to take advantage of the low prices and colourful clientele
