Originally constructed in 1909 as Metropolitan Life Insurance Company’s headquarters, this clocktower, near Madison Square Park, has been ingeniously reinvented to offer luxury boutique accommodation, a tranquil hotel spa, chic new event spaces and a Michelin-starred restaurant helmed by Executive Chef Jason Atherton, all encompassed by 360-degree views of the City. The Clocktower restaurant offers updated classics and contemporary British fare by Michelin starred Chef Jason Atherton. “Nice location. Modern decor. Helpful concierges.Uncomfortable beds for a 5 star hotel. No flat sheet. The tv was slow and delayed. No shower door was odd and made for cool showers and steamy bathroom. No shower pressure at all.The ladies at the front desk were lovely. The men seemed indifferent. The doormen were always friendly.We waited for 30-45 mins minimum for check in because protocol is for someone from the front desk to personally check room before they give us a key.... It was very very inefficient.The first time we were informed about the $35 usd credit per day was upon check out when we were reminded of the daily resort fee. The resort fee isn't unusual and was fine but it would have been nice to be notified about the credit at check in. Even if it's noted at the time of booking most people lead busy lives and a friendly reminder would have been nice and would have encouraged us to eat/drink at the hotel or use the spa.Not a bad hotel...just not worth the price/points... Or the 5 star rating in my opinion..”

“We had a great time at this hotel. The room was lovely and clean with stunning views of lower Manhattan. I also loved the bathroom, especially the shower. The only complaint I had was that I didn't find the bed very comfortable, the mattress felt a bit cheap and there weren't enough pillows provided without having to ask for more.The staff were all great, from the front desk to housekeeping. The bartenders downstairs made delicious cocktails in a comfortable space, but it is extremely pricey even by NYC standards.We will stay at this hotel again next time we are in NYC.”
