Hampton Inn Charleston-Historic District
With free breakfast free Wi-Fi and a downtown location our guests call the Hampton Inn Charleston-Historic District a great value. The five-story 171-room hotel is housed in a converted 1860s railroad warehouse. The lobby has a fireplace and the furnishings are antebellum inspired except for the large flat-panel TV for guests' enjoyment. The hotel has a large courtyard for relaxation and recreation where the outdoor pool is located. There is a 24-hour business center and free Wi-Fi so you can work wherever you carry your laptop. You can work out too in the fitness room. Free breakfast is served daily. Parking is never easy in a city but the hotel has it available to guests for a fee. The Hampton Inn is located in the historic district of downtown Charleston a 12-mile drive from Charleston International Airport. Called the Museum Mile this neighborhood is a great area for walking with lots of traditional Southern architecture and plenty of dining options. The city's visitors' center is next door to the hotel and America's oldest museum the Charleston Museum is just a block away. Just one block away is King Street renowned for its many and varied boutiques with everything from souvenirs to precious antiques. It's less than one mile to the waterfront and the acclaimed South Carolina Aquarium where you'll also get a great view of the harbor.

“Southern hospitality at it's finest. What a great location. Access to everything In the historic and waterfront districts, any kind of restaurant imaginable and free transportation to get there, via The Dash bus. The staff was gracious, accommodating and always with a smile. Especially Happy-what a wonderful ambassador. The beds were very comfortable. The free breakfast menu was varied and plentiful, fresh and yummy. Above all everything was immaculately clean. I just wish the parking was more convenient, or at least included in the room price.”

“We stayed there last night. When we returned from dinner at 9:30 PM, we discovered the AC was not working properly. Room was freezing at 66 degrees. I tried to call front desk, and the phone in the room did not work. So I used my cell phone. The front desk attendant very happily said, “I’ll send maintenance in a little while”...I asked how long that would be...he did not know. I told him I had to go to sleep soon. He did not seem to care. I turned off the AC and the room got hot during the night. Definitely not a good experience. But the worst part is, no one seemed to care. When I checked out this morning, the front desk lady said, “oh, I’ll get someone up there to fix it right away”. Well, $210 later, and a poor nights sleep, doesn’t really help much. I have a lot of options...next time it won’t be where there is customer “No” service.”
