Generally spreaking my experience here was good. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, with plenty of pillows of various firmnesses, which was nice. The main room area was fairly spacious, the bathroom wasn't big but sufficient for me by myself. I was in double room though and I can imagine sharing with someone would have been tight. Service was friendly and efficient, with no issues to speak of. I did enjoy what I consider to be really cool, French themed photographs in the elevators and common spaces. My two negatives would be that the windows looked onto an office building across an alley, and the carpet had a torn up spot at the transition into the bathroom. Besides looking ugly, it didn't feel great on my foot when I stepped on it in the middle of the night. All in all, I wouldn't have a problem staying here for work again.

My boyfriend & I came here for our anniversary weekend back in June, & it was really a wonderful experience. The room was luxurious, as to be expected. It was within walking distance of the places & restaurants we wanted to go to. The best part? We spend the entire day outside exploring the city & visiting museums. We got back, & waiting for us we’re sweet little goodies to celebrate our anniversary! It was such a sweet little touch, & it was really above & beyond. The room was clean when we got back during the day, & the staff was very friendly.

Definitely it is not a 5 star hotel as some mention. I would give 4 star.What I didn't like: No concierge or help for visitors.Even a cheap city map they didn't have, had to go to another hotel and beg for one. Restaurant reservations they Google, they are not able to make a call so it is faster to do it ourselves.Compulsory 30usd tax including telephone calls,higher speed internet that most of times doesn't work, 2 X 0,50 cents water bottles, coffee and tea at the lobby, package handling (it was useful for me, but any other hotel do that for free, except Loews or Hilton), and other things most guests don't use.No views (luxury and higher have views to a building other side of the street, superior room has a view to a wall and back of another very close building, standard room probably hasn't a window),Bathroom toiletries are different brands each so shower will make you smell like a fruit salad,They probably don't use a softener when washing towels (or softener is not working),All glasses are the cheapest roadside hotel plastic or paper cups. Maybe they are still very worried about covid but not about convenience or confort. If using plastic glasses is obligatory they could use nice cups as this is supposed to be an elegant hotel, but the cup is the same we find in 1 or 2 star hotels, or hospitals.Minibar doesn't cool down. Probably it only freezes when we request it to be filled but I had some beverages I wanted to cool for my city walk and couldn't do that.When I flushed toilet during the night I believe I woke up the entire floor. It makes an incredible noise for some couple of seconds.What I liked: Reception staff is very friendly,Location is very nice, not far from anywhere and next door to the White House and less than 20 minutes to the museums.Blackout curtains in the room really work.Shower is good, pillows and bed are comfortable, air conditioning works.Cleanliness and cleaning service. Very good.Room size is perfect.Valet staff is friendly and prompt (don't forget it costs 60usd per day)

My stay could've been better and had high expectations for the hotel. First, I was very happy that they were able to accommodate my last-minute change to upgrade my room from a standard to the Luxury Corner King room, which we absolutely loved the room. We also were very appreciative that we were able to check-in at 2:00 PM instead of 3:00 PM as we had just traveled from Virginia Beach, VA by Amtrak and it was our first time in DC (this was a surprise birthday weekend trip). The woman that helped us check-in was very very nice and the check-in process was less than 15 minutes, she gave us 2 complimentary drink tickets to use at the bar which also made us really love the experience so far. What was not a pleasant experience and was very upsetting and disappointing was the following: 1. We went to go get ice on our floor, but the ice machine was out of order. We called down to the front desk to see if there were other ice machines and were told no, that they are on other floors. We were then told that someone would bring ice to our door shortly...nobody ever came nor did we ever get a call about the ice. We tried to use our key to get to a different floor to use their ice machine but it was not working. We were also on a time crunch/schedule to go see some museums/monuments (as some require timed-entry tickets) so we never did call back about the ice. We returned hours later and finally, our key let us go up to a different floor to retrieve ice. I don't think guests should have to be going to different floors to get ice. 2. There was no ice bag in the ice bucket, which is a health and sanitation issue, as putting the ice inside a bucket without a bag can make it dirty and you can get sick from this. Other hotels that are not "5-star" rated always have ice bags, so this was very disappointing. We ended up using the disposable shower cap to place the ice in the bag. 3. One reason we picked this hotel was that there was a concierge service offered, which we were going to use to get information about the monuments, museums, and restaurants as this was our first time in DC and only there for a week. We walked down to the front desk and spoke to the same woman that helped us check-in to inquire about how to get tickets to the United States Holocaust Museum (tickets were almost impossible to get/booked in advance) and we thought maybe the hotel had a select number reserved. She told us that the concierge service is unavailable/suspended and that she would talk to her manager and call us to let us know what they could do. She took my last name and our room number and we went up to our room...we never did receive a phone call, and at that point, it was already too late and we headed to bed. 4. Our bed was completely missing a fitted sheet on the bed and we essentially slept on top of the bare mattress. The bed only had the top sheet and the comforter, and we can see the mattress pad that was on top of the actual mattress (which also was very very dirty), and that upset us a lot as we just have traveled all day, had things to do once we got check-in, and then we're about to lay down for bed. 5. The bathroom was amazing, the separate tub and shower are what sold us to getting the Luxury Corner King room, but, there was an issue with our shower. The walk-in shower was missing the rubber sealant on the bottom of the door, so whenever you took a shower, the water got all over the floor and basically flooded the bathroom. 6. We ordered in-room dining breakfast both days honestly, it was not good. Eggs were overcooked, protein was undercooked/raw, and some of the items were completely soggy. Overall, the stay was not great/OK. I really expected a better experience, as I was highly recommended this hotel by others. Our stay failed to live up to the "5-star" rating and the "one-of-a-kind-stay" from their website. It's upsetting how much we paid for a room yet we did not receive the experience and service that should have come with it.

firstly this is a super nice hotel with a top location and with super nice staff. The room nicely decorated. the bed is super soft i slept very well. Only a small litte thing is that sometimes some feathers sticking out of the bed. But besides that I had 2 perfect nights at this hotel i definitely recommend this hotel.

O hotel ainda é muito bom, mas a qualidade na rede Sofitel vem caindo nos últimos anos. Por exemplo, desta vez fomos informados, em 3 dias consecutivos da estadia, que precisaríamos aguardar cerca de 25 minutos para ter uma mesa para o desjejum, previamente pago. A porta do banheiro range, o colchão tem um afundamento, pequenos problemas em detalhes que no passado não se observava num Sofitel.

Clean, quiet, comfy, close! Only blocks away from the White House, and walking distance to the Washington Memorial, Smithsonian museums and about a mile and a half to the Spy Museum, the Sofitel is a gem of a hotel. The staff was very friendly, and the amenities were very clean. Our room had light blocking blinds so I had one of the most restful night’s of sleep I have had at a hotel. The bathroom had a walk in shower, and a separate step in bath tub. Parking is on site, and a very tasty breakfast was included in the cost. I would give this place five stars, but our room did not have a functioning refrigerator. It was an empty minibar refrigerator that was small and did not keep things cool. Overall, it was a great stay!

The location was the best! Walk to the White House in just a few minutes. Our room was spotless and pristine.Staff were super friendly and always ready to help. Actual genuine kindness. We will stay here again when we return. Can't wait! Thank you to the staff for helping create such lovely memories for us! And breakfast is Awesome

Super friendly staff and great location. Room was very clean and tidy. Valet staff was fast and very helpful. Love that it was pet friendly. My only negative comment is that the shower and sink would do this weird random thing where it would shut off mid use for about 20seconds. Fortunately the water would come back on nice and hot again but it was strange. My overall experience was still 5 stars and I would definitely stay here again.

Very nice hotel. I stayed there with my wife and daughter on a family vacation a few years ago and it's close to pretty much everything you could want to see in DC so we were able to walk almost everywhere.

Great location actually one of the best location in Washington. It is very close to everything you need, attractions, shopping and restaurants. The check in process was fast and great The check out was fast as well. No waiting lines. The room was supper clean, comfortable, quiet, large, looks new and have enough space to set and move. There is daily room service. The bathroom was clean. There is no on-site breakfast, i wish they had. They provide two bottels of water daily for free, which i like when a hotel do that

For a hotel smack dab in DC don't know if I'd stay again to be honest. Was just okay, nothing to write home about.Pro's - close to metro Hotel is nice, and in a good location to Metro. But that's it for me.Cons - We arrived on Thursday evening, and checked in. We thought the gentleman who checked is in could have been more customer friendly & seem a little more enthusiastic. Pretend that your excited to be working at a hotel & pretend your excited to see guests. Room was in the front on the 4th floor & is a nice room, nicely decorated. Bathrooms are nice, but are a tad outdated & worn. The bed is not at all nice in any way, they have a pillow top on the bed and moves all over the place, and u get 2 pillows per side. I'll complain about the pillows as they are horrible horrible. We didn't get good sleep at all. The AC/Heat is loud, & don't know if it's our room only, but we can hear the plumbing for the entire hotel run through our bathroom, it seems like water running constantly. It's loud.The breakfast was nice, but expensive, $78 for two of us. But I suppose that's DC for you. If anyone reads this that works for the hotel, I'd suggest if you charge a guest $3 for an extra fried egg, get some new pillows for your guests. I'm sure that the restaurant is not part of the hotel, but guilty by association.Sum it up, was okay, wasn't the worst, definitely not the best. I've had better nights sleep at way way less expensive hotels. But, I wouldn't stay here again to be honest.
